Hot Shot! Blake Lively from Gossip Girl on those rumours

by Peter Lang

Twenty-two year-old beauty Blake Lively, who stars as Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl is this week’s Extra Source Hot Shot of the Week.
The lovely and talented Blake Lively has denied to the media on many occasions that there is in-fighting and bitchy-ness amongst the cast on the set. She has been quoted as saying: “The media is always trying to pit us against each other," she said in an interview, "I guess because it’s just not interesting to say, ‘Everyone gets along; everybody just works 18-hour days and goes home to sleep.’ That’s not fun to read, I guess.”[
The truth is probably a mixture of what’s been quoted by Ms Lively and the rumours we hear.
Currently Lively is dating her Gossip Girl co-star and former childhood classmate Penn Badgley and the two are reported to be very happy together.
Blake Lively everyone, our sexy hot-shot of the week!

Hulk Hogan to take on WWE

by Peter Lang

He may be 56 years-old and past his true prime but my favourite all time wrestler and legendary Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan is about to stir things up big time at TNA Wrestling when he takes the helm as the company’s General Manager on January 1st.
This story is compiled from many sources including wrestlingrevealed.com and numerous wrestling podcasts I’ve heard talk about the subject since Hogan signed for TNA in late October but the key things to come out of Hogan’s interviews are;
1) He intends to try and sign free agent Rob Van Dam who now says he is open to offers from both WWE and TNA. He also plans to sign other former WWE stars like Mr Kennedy and possibly even Umaga.
2) His plan is to let the wrestlers take more charge of their matches and not have writers script the whole thing. Where this leaves head TNA writer Vince Russo is anyone’s guess. The two don’t get along and it appears as if Russo’s days with the company are numbered.
3) Hogan also intends to launch a Monday night TNA show directly against WWE’s Raw program. Whether this will be moving the current TNA Impact show or creating a totally new one is anyone’s guess.
As in the mid to late 90s when Hogan moved to WCW and turned the wrestling world on its head by beating WWE for several years in the ratings, Hogan is promising more of the same with TNA.
At the moment, WWE is way ahead of TNA in ratings but if Hogan has his way, which I believe he will, that gap may close sooner rather than later.
Get ready folks, after several years in the doldrums, the wrestling world is about to get a whole lot more interesting.

Stephen King confirms 'Shining' sequel

by Nathan Taylor

Stephen King has announced he is working on the sequel to one of the scariest films ever made The Shining.

The original movie was based on the 1977 novel written by King and was developed into a movie three years later and starred Jack Nicholson and was directed by the late Stanley Kubrick.

King revealed he was penning a sequel at an appearance in Toronto and said the story would take place 40 years after the original and focuses on the lead character Jack Torrance's son Danny.

The Shining 2 is currently under the working title of Doctor Sleep.

Jason Voorhees is set to return in 2010

by Peter Lang

Despite mediocre reviews and only moderate box-office success for the Friday the 13th reboot earlier this year, Paramount Pictures are talking about teaming up with producer Michael Bay again for a reboot sequel due to hit our screens late 2010.
It’s all just speculation at the moment as a script isn’t even finished yet but the movie is believed to be ‘in pre-production mode’ whatever that means.
Both Damian Shannon and Mark Swift have been commissioned to write the screenplay and rumours have the movie featuring elements from the fourth original Friday the 13th to the last.
There are even rumours that Jason may end up in Manhattan once again which would be good as the eighth movie explored that concept without actually fully realising it by having Jason spend most of his time on a boat.
More rumours have both Derek Mears returning in the title role of Jason Voorhees and even a bigger role for Nana Visitor who would play Jason’s mother Pamela Voorhees in a series of flashbacks.
Much like the Halloween 2 remake last year tried to wrap up the Michael Myers story in two movies, producers are hoping this second Jason Voorhees movie will do the same for another legendary character.
Personally, I’d love to see another Friday the 13th movie incorporating the best elements of movies four to nine with a return to New York and maybe even a battle with a psychic girl as in part seven.
The reboot series still has at least one more movie in it until of course, Jason vs Michael Myers. Now there’s a movie we’d all like to see.

Invictus Oscar bound

by Nathan Taylor

If you were to put your money on a movie to be nominated for the 'Best Picture' Oscar at The Academy Awards it would have to be the latest emotional and powerful blockbuster with Morgan Freeman called Invictus.
The movie which opens next month in US cinemas and January in Australia also stars superstar Matt Damon and is directed by Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood (see what I mean about the huge Oscar potential). Movie source IMDB gives these plot details:
The film tells the inspiring true story of how Nelson Mandela joined forces with the captain of South Africa's rugby team to help unite their country. Newly elected President Mandela knows his nation remains racially and economically divided in the wake of apartheid. Believing he can bring his people together through the universal language of sport, Mandela rallies South Africa's rugby team as they make their historic run to the 1995 Rugby World Cup Championship match.
Morgan Freeman has been rumoured to play Nelson Mandela in a bio film for years due to their similar resemblance and now Invictus gives us a chance to see Freeman shine as the former South African president.
I have included the newly released trailer below and it sure sends the strong message of unity just as Mandela has supported his whole life.
I cant wait for this one!

New Moon on track to beat box office of Dark Knight

by Peter Lang

New Moon is going ballistic at the US Box Office with its final three-day figure (plus midnight screenings) expected to finish just over $140 million dollars.
That makes it the biggest weekend of 2009, easily beating Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’s $109 million three-day performance.
It is already the third biggest weekend of all time and its Friday single day take of $72.7 million is the biggest single day in box office history.
Analysts are now guessing and double guessing whether New Moon has the ‘legs’ to beat last year’s mega hit The Dark Knight which grossed a phenomenal $533,345,358 in the US alone.
After three days Batman was around the $150 million mark so not much difference there but New Moon will have to have a solid second weekend with a drop off of 30% or less if it has any hope of beating the final total held by Heath Ledger and the rest of the Batman gang.
Worldwide New Moon has also opened strong with an $118,100,000 total so far. In Australia the movie grossed an incredible $16 million dollars, also a new record for Aussie cinemas.
Stay tuned folks, next weekend will be make or break as far as beating Dark Knight records go. Can New Moon become the second highest grossing movie in US history. The Extra Source will be here to let you know and give its final prediction.

Stan Walker Wins Australian Idol

by Nathan Taylor
Stan Walker has won the 7th series of Australian Idol defeating Hayley Warner at the Sydney Opera House tonight.
In what was a terrible year for Australian Idol...I'm referring to the talent, ratings and judges... the Finale was a great spectacle as always and the right winner won on the night.
I'm sure the two Idol finalists will have careers in the music industry, whether that is a short or long career, a successful or an unsuccessful career or a career winning ARIA's or a career singing Christmas carols.
Australian Idol looks like it will return in 2010 in a new format.
Congrats Stan!!

Twilight: Eclipse could be rated R

by Nathan Taylor

This is a bit far fetched if you ask me but R Patts (Rob Pattinson if your not a Twi-Hard) reckons that the third installment of the Twilight Saga Eclipse could get an 'R' rating.

The follow up to the box office hits New Moon is due out in cinemas mid next year.

Pattinson said in a recent interview: "It’s a massively different movie to New Moon. There’s so many more main parts, and having these huge battle sequences, I’ve never done anything like it in any of the other movies".

Umm yeah right R Patt's you would lose 90% of your market if the movie was rated R.

New Moon Breaks all Box Office Records

by Peter Lang

New Moon has broken all box office records to record a phenomenal $26.27 million dollars, the biggest midnight opening in movie history.
It’s already beaten the midnight take of both The Dark Knight and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Even more incredible is that the take of $26.27 million puts New Moon into the Top 100 biggest single days of all time.
We’ll have more New Moon box-office updates for you right here at the Extra Source as the days roll on and this movie goes after the box office records of such massive recent hits as The Dark Knight and the Spider-man trilogy.

'Cougar' Courtney Cox Hot Shot!

by Peter Lang

It seems the naughties (2000s) is the era of the ‘cougar’or translated, sexy women over 40.
Today’s Hot Shot is indeed one of Hollywood’s hottest cougars. Her name, Courtney Cox, who believe it or not is actually 45 years-old.
Wow…is all I’ll say. Many thought that after ‘Friends’ ended its successful run back in 2004 that the cast would struggle to find success and while that’s somewhat true for a few of them, others like Jennifer Aniston and now Courtney Cox have gone from strength-to-strength since the series folded.
Cox is currently starring in the ABC hit TV series Cougar Town about a recently divorced woman who re-enters the dating game filled with younger men while living and trying to raise her 17-year-old son.
The series is a huge hit in the US and is currently averaging around seven million viewers a week after the first episode pulled in an audience of over 11 million.
Each week viewers get to see the lovely Ms Cox in her underwear (a lot) as all the teenage boys in the street fantasize about the town’s hottest new mom.
Well, we here at the Extra Source are more than happy to feature a gorgeous 45 year-old as our ‘Hot Shot of the Week’. After all, beauty knows no age limits.
Growl!

GOSSIP GIRL - the movie?

by Peter Lang

Following the huge world-wide success of the Sex in the City movie comes strong buzz out of Hollywood that the popular Gossip Girl hit TV series could end up on the big screen sooner rather than later.
The Gossip (no pun intended) out of Hollywood is that a Gossip Girl movie could come out as early as December 2010 while the series is still hot.
Others say a silver screen debut is years away and not even a possibility until the show finishes its run on the small screen first.
However only a few months ago, mtv.com broke the news that it was a distinct possibility even quoting two of the biggest stars on the show Jessica Szohr and Leighton Meester who both went on record about their thoughts of making Gossip Girl for the big screen.
"We've been asked that a lot," Jessica Szohr grinned. "I'm in."
"A 'Gossip Girl' movie could be compared to a Sex in the City-type of movie," agreed Leighton Meester, "I think that would be kind of hot."
"You never know," Szohr added. "It went from books to a TV show — so they might as well just check off the list and make it a film too."
Some say all this hype about a possible Gossip Girl movie is all about keeping the TV series in the spotlight and the ratings high. Others say it’s only a matter of time.
I guess in this case only time will tell.
Stay tuned.

Harry Potter takes on Twilight on the Simpsons

by Nathan Taylor

The two biggest movie franchises of our time are about to take on the biggest television show in history. Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is lending his voice in an upcoming episode of The Simpsons next season... but that's not all.

The episode will be part of the traditional Halloween episodes known as the 'Treehouse of Horror' series and the part of the episode Radcliffe appears in is during a Twilight parody.

Radcliffe will play Edmund (as opposed to Edward) a boy vampire who Lisa falls in love with. But unfortunately the fathers of the two love birds Homer and Edmund's dad Dracula don't approve of the union and endeavour to stop it!

This sounds like a great idea and is the first time Twilight has been parodied anywhere, so all fans of the BIG 3 and yes I'm sure there's lots of you, look out for this one next Halloween!

Hulk Hogan bashed in Sydney

by Nathan Taylor

Because a wrestling star is involved you would think this is fake... but apparently it's very real.

Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan who's currently in Sydney touring his Hulkamania stage show has been bashed during a press conference by fellow wrestler Ric Flair.

As you can see in this photo (courtesy Daily Telegraph) Hogan was badly injured after the bloody brawl which sent the room at Star City Casino into chaos.

Journalists at the press conference narrowly missed being hit tables thrown by Flair in what looked like a stunt, but when Hogan was down on the ground with blood pouring out of his head things started to seem real and many people attended were confused.

I guess we'll never know if the incident was a set-up or genuine but it makes me want to see his Hulkamania tour even more!

Britney's 'Circus' a hit in Sydney!

by Nathan Taylor

Screw the rubbish reporting, screw the Britney bashing, screw journos who aren't even Britney fans who write bad things about her because it's apparently good reading. This is the real Britney Spears 'Circus' tour review from a fan that actually went to the concert!

Last night Britney Spears performed her first ever show in Sydney and managed to excite and thrill the crowd with a spectacle like no other.

The Britney experience was jam-packed with circus 'freak show' performers, hot dancers and some amazing visual features.

Each time Britney hit the stage for a new song she would change costumes, there would have to have been more than 10 costume changes throughout the night and each one more spectacular than the last.

While after all the media coverage the crowd were well aware of her lip-syncing but that didn't detract her fans from enjoying the concert. For the record, she did perform one song live 'Everytime' which sounded absolutely amazing.

Her other hits performed were 'Toxic', 'Baby one more time' and 'Womanizer' all in which excited the crowd for a bit of a dance.

A Britney Spears concert is definitely a spectacle. It's 90 minutes of unforgettable hits, amazing dancing, remarkable visual effects and you get that great wondrous feeling of seeing such an amazing pop icon live in front of your eyes.

So well done Britney and we all hope it's not too long between visits!

Fans are over the ‘NEW MOON’ about Twilight

By Peter Lang

Well the first official screenings of the Twilight sequel New Moon in both the US and Australia are only a few days away. Cinema houses in both countries are reporting sold-out midnight preview sessions with many theatres showing the movie at exactly one minute past midnight.
Some theatres are also holding a double movie feature with the original Twilight film being played first. These theatres are also sold-out.
Box office predictions for the movie in the US are flying as high as $100 million for the three-day official opening beginning on November 19, while other experts are predicting a more modest, yet still impressive $75 million take. The movie is also expected to break all box office records in Australia as well.
The film’s stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are two of the most ‘Google-d’ names on the search engine and fans just can’t get enough pictures of the duo on Google images, especially together (see picture on your left).
Yes, New Moon mania is about to strike the world once more. Even on our humble little Extra Source website, our Twilight tab is proving the most popular amongst readers. (It’s to the left in case you want to see what other Twilight stories we’ve done).
A few interesting basic facts about the Twilight phenomena for the uneducated. The original Twilight was directed by Catherine Hardwicke, while New Moon's director is Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass).
The New Moon soundtrack album - with artists including Death Cab For Cutie and the Killers - was also released in October as was a recent trailer of the film which is now well over the 25 million views mark..
Get ready folks because over the next few weeks, the Extra Source will keep you all up-to-date with box office figures of the New Moon movie plus critics and fans reactions to it as well.

ROVE quits TV

by Nathan Taylor

Last night Rove McManus made the shock announcement to the world that his TV show ROVE was ending after ten years... but hang on a sec...The Extra Source predicted this weeks ago! See the link here

While I must admit it is somewhat sad that he is leaving, it is definitely due as his star power has plummeted over the past couple of years and now he can't even crack the 1 million mark in the ratings.

I used to enjoy ROVE from 2000 - 2006, but when he decided to add too many unfunny sidekicks and his jokes got a lot cruder I decided to go the other way and become a real 'Rove Hater'.

Rove provided Australian television with alot of funny moments like What The...? and Flick your Switch but the new direction the show was heading in didn't really excite anyone.

An interesting fact I'd like to mention is:

In 1999 Hey Hey ended and ROVE begun.
In 2009 ROVE ended and Hey Hey begun again.

Expect Rove's next role to be either a stay at home dad (once his wife gets pregnant that is) or co-hosting Sydney's Nova breakfast in 2010 with his mate Peter Helliar and Merrick Watts.

Stallone says NO to Sci Fi Rambo 5

Sylvester Stallone has decided against turning the fifth installment of the Rambo franchise into a sci-fi movie.

As fans cheer this great news Stallone announced that the forthcoming Rambo 5 will feature the iconic hero "heading over the border to a violent city where many young women have vanished".

2008's fourth Rambo movie made $113 million world-wide proving that 20 years after Rambo III that it's still a popular franchise and fans want more.

Once a script is done and dusted expect the film to hit cinemas in 2011!

Hot Shots of Jennifer Love Hewitt

By Peter Lang

It’s hard to believe our hot shot for the day is 30 years-old Jennifer Love Hewitt. The gorgeous and sexy Hewitt is enjoying huge success on the small screen as The Ghost Whisperer but today’s double-shot of Ms Hewitt shows her on the right, from a few years ago when the sultry actress posed semi-nude in a very tasteful photo shoot and on the left in her current role as Melinda Gordon, a young woman who can talk with ghosts.
It seems like only yesterday when Hewitt made her debut on the 90’s hit series Party of Five as Sara Reeves at the tender age of 16. She became an instant star and went on to also play a lead role in two I Know What You Did Last Summer movies.
Fans of The Ghost Whisperer will be pleased to hear the show has been renewed for the 2010 season.
Anyway, enjoy our Double Hot Shot for the Day, the wonderful Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Clash of the Titans remake trailer!

March 26, 2010 will be the day the titans clash in the remake of the 1981 classic film Clash of the Titans. Yesterday Warners Bros released the trailer to the world in what sets to be a massive year on the big screen.
This fantasy mythological film stars rising Australian star Sam Worthington, Ralph Fiennes and screen legend Liam Neeson.
The premise set for the film is as follows: In the film, the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Neeson) and unleash hell on Earth.
Sounds promising, but why not decide for yourself by watching the trailer below to the remake of the Clash of the Titans out March 2010!

The latest film in the series will be released as always in time for Halloween 2010 and it just wouldn't be Halloween without a great SAW movie.

This is the first time a SAW movie will screen in 3D further proving the increasing popularity of 3D movies.

Actors Costas Mandylor and Tanedra Howard will be back for the latest movie, while Tobin Bell is expected to reprise his role as serial killer Jigsaw in flashback scenes.

Jennifer Morrison sexy shot & she’s set to quit - see the video!

By Peter Lang

The Lady of the House, the gorgeous Jennifer Morrison, who plays Dr Allison Cameron on the hit TV Show House, has confirmed on The Bonnie Hunt Show that she will quit the series at the end of the current season.
The popular actress revealed the news when Bonnie asked her "So you're done with House?" and Jen replied: "I am, as far as I know, yes."
However this statement flies in the face of the show’s producers who keep spruiking to the media that they intend to bring her back next season in numerous guest spots?
The show definitely won’t be the same without the sultry actress, who once admitted to having a crush on House (Hugh Laurie) during one of the early episodes of the show.
She’s also been engaged to fellow House actor Jesse Spencer (Dr Chase) in real life before the two broke it off in 2007.
Perhaps, once she finally gets away from House, she may just find…true love.

A Gossip Girl Hot Pic & threesome!!

by Peter Lang
Here at the Extra Source we just want to spice things up a little and help our loyal readers get through the rest of the week.
‘Hump Day’ - as we also like to call 'Wednesday' here Down Under, is the middle of the week and to celebrate we’d like to present a very sexy and seductive picture of gorgeous 23 year-old actress Leighton Meester.
Meester plays the popular character of Blair Waldorf in the hit TV series Gossip Girl which only yesterday in the US achieved a 20% increase in viewers from last week: 2.4 million viewers versus 1.95 million, per Nielsen stats. It was the CW Network’s most-watched Monday of the season.
The episode which achieved such a high rating was the much talked about and hyped ‘Threesome’ episode which turned out to be no more explicit than three people (Penn Badgley, Jessica Szhor and Hilary Duff) NOT kissing at the same time.
So all those fans expecting some extra sizzle would have been slightly disappointed.
Back to the wonderful Leighton Meester and you can keep up to date with her personal life by following her tweets on Twitter.
Tweet tweet…I say and thank you for helping us all get through the rest of the week!

Britney Spears responds to backlash

by Nathan Taylor
Britney Spears has responded to the backlash she is receiving from Australia's media about her lip-synching.
Spears said this in a statement today: “I hear there is a lot of controversy in the media about my show. Some reporters have said they love it and some don’t. I came to Australia for my fans!”
This whole controversy hit the fan last week after Britney performed her first ever concert in Australia. One Aussie journalist decided to reveal to the world that Britney Spears for the most part lip-synchs through her concerts...Umm hey buddy, we all kinda already knew that! That's NOT why we are seeing her show, fans are seeing it for the whole spectacular that Britney Spears is and the fact she has never toured Australia before...(if I was her I wouldn't tour this country again!)
Britney seems like an easy target to the media and any story done on her...negative or positive is a gem...so it's no surprise news outlets pick up one story and run it to death without even doing their own research.
The Extra Source will be at Britney's first Sydney show next Monday, so expect another post from me this time next week with my thoughts on her concert.

Twilight: Breaking Dawn to film in 2010

by Nathan Taylor
Twilight superstar Robert Pattinson has revealed the fourth Twilight Saga movie Breaking Dawn will start filming next year.

Pattinson made the announcement at a press conference only hours ago. There is talk the movie will be split into two parts (like they are doing with the next Harry Potter movies) however Pattinson couldn't confirm or deny that one.

From a marketing point of view splitting the film into two separate films is a great idea... but just how will die hard fans react?

The only bad thing about splitting the movies is if you're not a Twilight fan, it'll mean you're going to have to put up with the Twilight phenomenon for a few more years yet!

The sequel to 2008's Twilight New Moon hits cinemas next week and the third film Eclipse is due out mid next year! Here come the teenagers!!

A HERO will DIE? Spoiler Alert

by Peter Lang
In an attempt to keep the series on a ratings high following the controversial recent lesbian kiss, it was leaked by shows producers a few weeks ago that a character (hero) was going to die in series four.
This news came hot on the heels of speculation that a main actor was being released from the show.
The character has now been revealed by TV Guide as Nathan Petrelli played by popular actor Adrian Pasdar who had his throat slit at the end of season three but returned for series four.
Is his time finally up? Is he the hero who will die in season four? Is it all a hoax to raise ratings? We’ll know in a few short weeks.

Hot Shot #13 Kim Kardashian

Last week Halloween swept over the world and celebrities as always love to get involved!
But the winner for me this Halloween was Kim Kardashian dressed as Princess Jasmine from Aladdin.
She looks absolutely amazing in this HOT SHOT and that's why she is regularly an Extra Source favourite.
Oh if only the Disney characters were as hot as Kim...it would be "A whole new world... a new fantastic point of view" haha (Aladdin theme song!)

Robert Pattinson to star as a SEX MANIAC!

by Nathan Taylor

In an odd casting choice Twilight superstar Robert Pattinson is set to star in an upcoming British film called Bel Ami.

The movie which is based on a novel centres around a man (Pattinson) in 1890s Paris who makes his way to the top of high society by sleeping with the most elite and powerful women in the city.

To me it's hard to see him playing anything apart from Edward Cullen. But I gather he'll be happy to be speaking in his native British accent in the film.

This movie sounds extremely racy, so I wonder how his 13 year old fans will perceive him in this one. I bet they will be bugging their parents to death to let them in the cinema. HAHA good luck parents with that.

There were earlier reports that Nicole Kidman was set to join Pattinson in the film, probably playing a cougar after Pattinson... but her rep has now denied any involvement. Thank God cause that would be weird!

Bel Ami starts shooting in February 2010, so expect to see it in cinemas late next year.

BONES turns 100 - SPOILER ALERT!

With the sixth series of the hit TV show Bones now confirmed for 2010, fans have now turned their attention to the upcoming 100th episode due to screen early in the new year.
Bones fan forums are full of spoilers speculating what the episode might be about.
For those who don’t know, Bones is based on forensics and police procedures and each episode focuses on an FBI case file concerning a mystery involving human remains.
Enter the forensic anthropology team of Dr Temperance ‘Bones’ Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) to solve the case and save the day.
Like any good drama, the show also focuses on the ‘romantic’ mismatched tension between its two stars which has been ongoing since the series started.
Fans of Booth and Brennan have been wondering for five years now just how this mismatched pair actually met, well EW.com Ausiello Files has confirmed that for the show’s 100th episode, 'Bones' will take viewers back to the very first meeting between Booth and Brennan.
The show’s Executive producer Stephen Nathan has been quoted as saying; "Events will conspire to make them come out of the case hating each other and vowing that they will never work together again."
Considering how important the chemistry between Bones and Booth is to the show’s ongoing success, it will be interesting to see how this dynamic first manifested itself and why?
It's believed that the 100th episode will also look at the beginnings of Angela's friendship with Brennan.
100 episodes already, ahhh….it seems like only yesterday that it all began.

Prince of Persia trailer just released!

by Nathan Taylor
Watch out for this one! After seeing the trailer (see below) for the movie adaptation of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time I have no doubt that this movie will be huge come May 2010 when it opens to the world. The trailer has just been released by Disney and its already wetting the appetite.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time which is based on the classic video game series stars Oscar winner Sir Ben Kingsley, Award-winning actor Jake Gyllenhaal, it's produced by superstar movie-maker Jerry Bruckheimer and it's being released by Walt Disney Pictures... you certainly can't go wrong with that!
This movie very much reminds me of a cross between 300 and Pirates of the Caribbean, in which Bruckheimer also produced.
Not only will this movie bring in big bucks thanks to the acting talent in the film but Disney will make a stack of money from a heavy marketing campaign like they did with the Pirates trilogy, a brand new video game will no doubt be in the works and I wouldn't be surprised if Disneyland create a new Prince of Persia ride for its theme parks.
The following is the only premise released so far for the film: Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaall) is a street urchin in 6th century Persia. After showing valor in battle, he is adopted by the king as his heir, so the king's two sons will not fight over the throne. He teams up with Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) to rescue the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that controls time, from the hands of the villainous nobleman, Nizam (Ben Kingsley).
So until May 2010 enjoy the new trailer below:

Michael Jackson This Is It Review

by Nathan Taylor & Peter Lang

In less than a week the movie the world has been waiting for opened to an international box office take of over $100 million dollars.
This Is It the Michael Jackson documentary which shows MJ rehearsing for his upcoming comeback tour in London is fast becoming a world-wide phenomena.
Millions of Jackson's fans are praising it for the wonderful insights it provides into the perfectionist mind of this truly unique and talented individual whose life was cut way to short on June 25, 2009 at the age of 50.
The 'Peter Pan of Pop' is seen as a dedicated and hard working performer who cares not just about the concert but about his fellow performers as well. He may lose his cool every now and then or show his frustration but he always ends each mini outburst with the words "It's all for love".
Indeed, think what you will or like about Michael Jackson but after watching the movie, you can't help but think at the end of it, every song he sung, every dance he performed...it was..all for love.

Hot Shot Sunday - The Vampire Diaries

The hottest show in the world at the moment is The Vampire Diaries based on the novels of the same name by L. J Smith.
The series began in the US in early September and has already been extended beyond its initial 13 episode run to a full 22 episodes due to its average audience of over four million per show.
It's also made big stars of its three main characters Nina Dobrev as Elena Gilbert, Paul Wesley as Stefan Salvatore and Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore (pictured above).
In Australia it airs on Monday nights on the free digital channel GO! while in the US it's raking up some big numbers on the CW Network every Thursday night.
It's nowhere near at the level of Twilight yet in terms of teen vampire popularity but if the series and its teen stars continue to grow in stature as they have over the last few months, don't be surprised if talks of a big budget movie begin to resonate through the corridors of Hollywood real soon.
