Smallville producer talks of a 10th series!

Smallville, the TV series which tells the story of a young Clark Kent growing up into a man, one day, ‘Superman’, is currently on the verge of renewal for a mammoth 10th season.
Series nine is not even at the halfway point in the US but EW.com has just reported that the show's executive producer Kelly Souders is keen on a 10th year despite the fact that ratings have dropped slightly in the US due to a change in timeslot for the hit series to Friday nights.
“I think the word still isn’t out there that we’re on Friday nights. So if people keep tuning in and telling their friends about it, I think [a 10th season] is quite likely,”the producer has been quoted as saying.
Souders also hinted that if a 10th season was made it would most likely be the last and could finally see actor Tom Welling, who has played Clark Kent in the show for nine years, don the Superman costume in the series finale.
It’s not certain whether the revelation would occur in the first episode of the 10th season, somewhere in the middle or right at the very end.
My money would be at the very end. Go out with a bang I say.
It’s something fans have been waiting for and every episode of the series so far has seen Welling wear some sort of combination of blue, yellow or red in his attire.
And although he plays the title character of Clark Kent (aka Superman),Welling has admitted in numerous interviews that he is not a fan of the Superman comic books.
In Australia, the series airs on FOX 8.

Miley Cyrus named worst celebrity influence

by Nathan Taylor

I was surprised to hear today that Miley Cyrus was voted the Worst Celebrity Influence of 2009 and what makes this more crazy is that it was voted by her teenage fans.

Cyrus is without a doubt Disney's hottest star mostly thanks to her Hannah Montana TV show, movie and CDs.

Over the past few years raunchy photos have been released of the 17 year old and she also did a nice little pole-dancing routine during a performance on a teen awards show, but apart from that I think she is still a good role model to her young fans.

Perhaps her fans can't handle her growing up and breaking out of that Disney mould. Its also been confirmed that her series Hannah Montana will end next year.

Years ago Hilary Duff left Disney and is now doing more grown up roles and her music has become more adult oriented.

And even more recently Vanessa Hudgens of Disney's High School Musical fame who also copped alot of criticism for releasing naked photos of herself has finally broken away from Disney and in her next movie role she is playing a prostitute.

These child stars have to grow up sometime and as long as she lays of the drugs or crime path like other child stars in the past I think she is doing quite well thanks to the great family she has behind her.

Just for the record Britney Spears and Kanye West came in second and third respectively in the poll... Are those kids nuts??

Funniest Quotes by Paris Hilton & Jessica Simpson

We here at the Extra Source like to think we have a sense of humour and this is why this story had to be told.
Here are some un/intentionally funny quotes by two of Tinsel town’s favourite starlets, Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson.
To prove we’re not sexist, next week, we’ll do a story which highlights some of the funniest male celebrity quotes ever made.
Until then, enjoy this one, all the quotes were found and compiled from a much longer story by The Sun newspaper in London.
1) Paris Hilton talking to press about the US chain store: "Wal-Mart... do they like make walls there?"
2) Jessica Simpson on Newlyweds: “Is this chicken, what I have, or is this fish? I know it's tuna, but it says 'Chicken by the Sea.'
3) Paris Hilton on her technique on the red carpet: "I don't really think, I just walk."
4) Jessica Simpson on her first day at high school: "A teacher asked us if anybody knew the names of the continents. I was sooo excited. I was like, Damn it! It's my first day of 7th grade, I'm in junior high and I know this answer. So I raised my hand, I was the first one, and I said A-E-I-O-U!" (which are vowels)
5)Jessica Simpson when offered buffalo wings: "Sorry I don't eat buffalo."
6) Paris Hilton on her title: "I don't want to be known as the Hilton heiress, because I didn't do anything for that."

How much is your favourite Hills star worth?

by Nathan Taylor

If your reading this your either up on The Hills or your not! For the people who aren't this is pretty much all you need to know.

The Hills is an MTV reality TV show which premiered in 2006 and is now up to its 6th season. It follows the lives of several young (beautiful) people living in Los Angeles.

Okay so your familiar?... Good! Now I thought it would be interesting to go through just how much these reality stars get paid per episode... and lets just say it's quite a nice pay packet. All earnings are in US Dollars.
So starting from left to right on the photo above Spencer Pratt who's married to Heidi earns $65,000 per ep and Heidi earns almost double her husband with $100,000 per ep.
The third from the left is Audrina Patridge who also earns a nice crisp $100,000 per ep to put towards her daily shopping spree.
Fourth from the left and in the middle is the girl responsible for the show, Lauren Conrad, who was the star of The Hills until she left last season. She used to make the most receiving $125,000 per ep. The rumour was Lauren asked for it to be written into her contract that she receives more money than the rest of the cast.
Second from the right is Brody Jenner who was once Spencer's best friend and also is a serial dater by hooking up with the almost the whole female cast. He only earns $45,000 per ep.
On the far right we have Lo Bosworth who's Lauren's best friend from school and she too makes $100,000 per episode.
And finally the new star of the show after her enemy Lauren left last season is Kristin Cavallari (not pictured) who earns $90,000 an episode, but expect her salary to go up when she finds out how much the other girls are making.

Greatest Superhero Movie Franchises of all time

By Peter Lang & Nathan Taylor

So what is your favourite all- time Comic Book Superhero movie series?

Over the years there have been some fantastic superhero movies made, there's also been some stinkers as well.

Even wonderful series like Superman which began with an epic tale in 1978 produced a few clangers when Parts III & IV were released.

Then there's the Batman franchise which spawned such classics like Batman Forever (1995) and The Dark Knight (2008) and such rotten tomatoes like Batman Returns (1992) and the truly woeful Batman & Robin (1997) with George Clooney in the title role.

The new millennium bought about a superhero revolution with the X-Men (2000-06) and Spiderman (2002-07) trilogy re-igniting our passion for comic book movies. They were so adult in orientation and sophisticated in their presentation that we fell in love with superheroes all over again.

In our latest podcast we discuss all these movie franchises in detail and reveal some interesting facts about each series you might not have heard before. Click this link to listen now or go to our sister website http://www.extrasourcepodcast.net

Hot Shot #11 Rihanna

Everyone welcome Rihanna to this week's Hot Shots! This shot is of Rihanna's cover for her new single 'Russian Roulette'. I'm yet to hear the new track but there is no doubt it will hit number one right around the world.
This pic has also caused some controversy, not because she is topless and covered in barbwire (which we love) but the ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) is claiming Rihanna stole the idea from them. Ohh who cares, I'd rather see Rihanna topless covered in barbwire than a wrestler topless covered in barbwire! Wouldn't you??

The Wolfman movie remake - Hit or Flop?

by Nathan Taylor
That’s the question that puzzling me after watching the brand new trailer (see below) for the remake of the 1941 classic horror film of the same name.
The Wolfman is due to finally hit cinemas in February 2010 after being pushed back several times for script changes plus further tweaks on the special effects… that’s why I’m worried.
This movie will either take off and be huge or it could be a massive flop like most remakes of classic films are.
The movie boasts huge stars that should give it some help at the box office like legend Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt (Devil Wears Prada), Aussie Hugo Weaving and Gene Simmons from KISS who’s lending his voice for the Wolfman.
The film is set in the 1880s and sticks to the plotline of the original. The official synopsis states Lawrence Talbot (Benicio del Toro) reunites with his estranged father (Anthony Hopkins) following the disappearance of his brother. The film details events during Lawrence's past that led to his conflict with his father. The synopsis continues detailing Talbot was traumatized by his mother's death as a child, while Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt) is his brother's fiancée. Following his brother's disappearance, Talbot hunts a murderer, which turns out to be a werewolf, and the curse is passed on.
The movie by Universal Pictures cost $85 million to make and to me I think it will be lucky to make $50 million. Nevertheless it should be an enjoyable film as long as audiences don’t get lost in the plot.

Eclipse - new Twilight movie FIRST ON SET PIC

by Peter Lang

The sequel New Moon isn't even out yet and already pics from the set of the new Twilight movie, Eclipse due for release on June 30, 2010 have made their way onto the internet.
The photo on your left comes courtesy of http://www.dreadcentral.com/ who describes the photo taken by Vancouver girl Vancity Allie as 'Here they are setting up what I believe to be a rain machine. Water will come through the tube and then is dispersed through hundreds of little holes along the beam. You can see that the buildings look old and historic.'
All night scenes for the third Twilight movie have officially finished with Director David Slade releasing the information on Twitter. On October 10 he tweeted:
"Just wrapped our last night shoot. Shot with Nikki Reed and Jack Huston all night. Now buzzing and unable to sleep."
A regular Twitter, Slade has kept fans up to date over the last few months on set of the new movie with numerous one line tweets like; "The rain is coming from a giant rain machine, but still, none the less brutal to work in." (Perhaps it had something to do with the pic above)
The shoot in Vancouver, Canada is proving to be a challenging one indeed for cast and crew alike but the end result is expected to be well worth it.

ROVE GONE in 2010!

by Nathan Taylor
Well for the majority of it anyways... but just quietly I hope he is off TV for good!

A Melbourne newspaper confirmed the rumour which has been circulating for weeks that the once popular talk show host wouldn't return until late 2010.

It's believed he will concentrate on the 7PM Project which his production company Roving Enterprises produces. However I don't know why he would waste his time with this rubbish- NO ONE EVEN WATCHES IT! Plus there is no way in God's earth it will be back next year.

Over the past year Rove has lost many fans and viewers for his Sunday night show. With most people claiming Rove isn't as funny as he once was and his show has way too many sidekicks on there trying to but in and be funny.

Bloggers on the popular website TV Tonight responded to the news with glee. One blogger said: "I’d be happy if I never see him on TV again!"

While another said: "Please replace rove with Hamish and Andy….please please please Ten."

I must agree Rove has had his day...10 years in fact... and Channel 10 should seriously start looking at Hamish and Andy as a possible option as a replacement.

BRAND NEW Michael Jackson This Is It clip released

by Nathan Taylor
With just one week to go before the Michael Jackson's documentary This Is It is released a brand new clip has surfaced to entice audiences to go see the movie...that's if they can still get tickets.
Sessions around the globe have already SOLD OUT for the two-week showing, which is no surprise considering the amount of Michael Jackson fans out there. For instance his official Facebook page has well over 10 million fans...(that must be almost everyone on Facebook)
In this extended clip shown below we see Michael Jackson perform his hit Human Nature in what looks like a number of separate rehearsals cut together to make one song.
Human Nature being one of my favourite MJ songs is performed quite superbly even for a rehearsal and it just further proves that Michael Jackson was a perfectionist.
So see what you think with the clip below and I do hope all Michael Jackson fans pay tribute to him by seeing this movie as it will be unforgettable!

AVATAR - New James Cameron epic is almost here

by Peter Lang
The new James Cameron fantasy epic AVATAR is only months away from world-wide release (Dec 18) and it's already getting a positive reaction from fans and critics who have seen the movie trailer (see below).
Cameron is the master of special effects and over the years he's been responsible for some of the finest visual effects the cinema has ever seen including Terminator 2 and the epic Titanic.
In AVATAR Cameron takes things one step further by creating his own cameras for the movie and using ground breaking 3D technology which will blow your mind.
AVATAR tells the tale of a band of humans pitted in a battle against a distant planet's indigenous population.
The trailer looks positively wonderful in terms of the visuals but the storyline looks confusing and the lack of a voice-over to explain things does not help matters.
The positive buzz may disappear fast if viewers don't ultimately relate to the story or characters.
I guess time...will tell. View trailer below and see for yourself what I'm talking about.

Hot Shot Sunday - The Rock is on a roll...

Today's Hot SHOT is ..one for the ladies and it's Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, a particular favourite of my wife's and as far as his former wrestling days go, a favourite of mine.
Guys want to be cool like Dwayne, girls, like my wife, just want him!
Got to give it to the guy he does have charisma and a knack of connecting with the audience, be it playing the villain or hero.
Already in less than a decade he's built up an impressive movie resume including such hits as The Scorpion King (2002), Gridiron Gang (2006) or The Game Plan (2007).
Next on the list for the former WWE superstar is Tooth Fairy and The Other Guys both movies set for release in late 2010, early 2011.
Dwayne recently filmed a short pre-recorded promo in the character of 'The Rock' for WWE's 10th Anniversary special of their wrestling show SMACKDOWN! - a show created for the Rock back in 1999.
Chances of him making a return to the ring are minimal to none due to his success in Hollywood but perhaps one day, he will return for a one-off in-ring appearance.
As a wrestling fan, I can only hope to hear the the Rock chant one more time..."If you smell what The Rock...is...cookin'"......ahhh love it.

Hot Shot #10 Miranda Kerr

HOT SHOTS turns 10!! This was a tough one for who to use for the BIG 10 (plenty of Internet surfing around semi-porn sites...okay not that tough), but when I saw this hot shot of Aussie Miranda Kerr I knew she was the one to help the Extra Source celebrate this milestone. This shot was released this week of IMO Australia's hottest girl as she posed for skin care brand KORA. Hmmm I should start taking better care of my skin... thanks Miranda!

Beauty & The Geek Australia tops 1 million viewers

by Peter Lang

Channel 7 executives are smiling, ratings figures for the home grown version of Beauty & the Geek are quite strong with the reality show garnering an Australian wide audience of 1,067,000 viewers.
Executives are usually happy with anything over one million. Melbourne leads the way with 360,000 viewers closely followed by Sydney with 335,000.
I admit, I do enjoy the show which is based on the hugely popular American version and find watching good looking women interacting with socially challenged nerdy men fascinating.
Already you can see the 'beauties' changing their perceptions of men they simply viewed as 'ridicule fodder' when they first laid eyes on them.
There actually seems to be a bit of a spark developing between a few of the couples and I'm led to believe things actually get a little steamy between one couple in a few weeks time once the remaining Geeks undergo their makeover.
Unfortunately there was no spark between Kate and Alan who were voted off in episode two.
Can these 'odd couples' really learn something from each other? Or is this simply more reality TV rubbish? Trust me folks, this show is not as pathetic as you might first think and like the beauties and geeks in the show, first impressions aren't always the right ones.

Toy Story 3 extended trailer just released!

by Nathan Taylor

When Toy Story 3 hits cinemas on June 18, 2010 it'll have been 11 years since Toy Story 2 was released and 15 years since the original Toy Story movie.
Only just a few days ago Disney Pixar finally released an extended trailer for the most anticipated animated movie in years.
A brief plot of the movie has been leaked and we have it:
Andy is now a young adult, departing for college, and his toys, including Woody and Buzz Lightyear are being sent to storage. Andy has a change of heart and decides to keep Woody. Before the rest of the toys can be put in the attic, they are accidentally thrown away and are picked up by the garbage men. The toys find themselves at a local day-care center, where they must try to survive the pre-school children. Woody attempts to save his friends and find themselves a new home.
As a huge fan of the Disney Pixar movies I am just one person of millions who are excited to see this movie finally emerge. Disney do animation 100 times better than Dreamworks or any other wannabe animated studio and the proof is in the pudding with Disney movies like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs turning 70 years this year and are still classics.
All the characters are back for Toy Story 3 and so are Tom Hanks and Tim Allen reprising their roles as Woody and Buzz.
I expect this movie to gross in the TOP 5 films of 2010... it's gonna be huge!
See the trailer below:

Nightmare On Elm Street remake is on its way!

by Peter Lang

In honour of Freddy Krueger and the upcoming NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake, which this story is about, the text will be in 'blood red' just to get you in the mood.
While the movie is not due for world-wide release until April 30, 2o1o horror enthusiasts and children of the 80's (of which I am one) are already getting excited at the prospect of this remake to be directed by Samuel Bayer, who is perhaps better known for directing film clips for bands like Blink 182 and Offspring.
The poster to your left and Youtube trailer below are the first official studio previews of the movie and I must say both look very scary indeed.
The image of Krueger on the left, with his claws prominent is simply chilling while the trailer shows the rebirth of Krueger in a way only Producer Michael Bay knows, slick and scary.
If you're not familiar with the plot of the ELM STREET movies from the 80's, briefly Freddy Krueger is a child killer who escapes prosecution on a technicality but is then hunted down and murdered by the parents of the town's children and burned to death. He returns to extract revenge on every man, woman and child responsible for his demise via their dreams. So if he kills them while they're asleep, they die in reality.
In this movie Jack Earle Haley stars as Freddy Krueger, the role made famous by Robert Englund in the original series and by all reports Englund does make a brief appearance in the remake.
Everything Michael Bay does is brilliant in my book. He's the master of the horror remake having already presided over the re-telling of both The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday The 13th.
If Nightmare On Elm Street is half as good as those two were, then all us horror buffs are in for a real treat.
Check out the trailer below but only if you're not easily frightened. You've been warned.

Packed to the rafters with horror!

by Peter Lang

Channel 7's Packed to the Rafters star Jessica McNamee will soon feature in a chilling new Australian horror movie called The Loved Ones with the scary tag line 'You Don't Have To Die To Go To Hell'.
The gorgeous Jessica who plays Sammy Rafter in the hit TV series, takes on a completely different character in this flick, one described as a 'Gothic chick' with black hair, nail polish, lipstick, black clothes and eye shadow.
In fact she is the complete opposite to the lovable character she portrays on the small screen and that, according to film reviewers who have seen a preview of the movie, is what makes her so watchable and appealing in the film.
Not many details are actually known about The Loved Ones except that it is directed by Sean Byrne and also stars Xavier Samuel, who will portray newborn vampire Riley in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie next year.
The leaked plot details, thanks to movienation.com.au go something like this:-A 17-Year-old student, Brent (Xavier Samuel), is still grieving for his father when he declines an invite to the school formal from the quietest girl in school. Brent is then kidnapped by the girl and her father who have their own macabre celebration planned for him.
As a fan of good horror, I like the sound of this movie. The plot sounds simple but effective. Too many times in recent years horror movies have tried to be too complicated and clever with their storyline and simply ended up losing a lot of 'scares' in the process.
It looks this one could become an instant Aussie Classic like Wolf Creek did a couple of years ago which was also based on a very simple premise.
The Loved Ones is set to be released in Australian cinemas and to the world early in 2010. Personally, I can't wait.

Will Britney sing in Australia?

By Nathan Taylor

With Britney Spears headed Australia's way next month to tour for the first time I'd like share with you all what you may be in store for... and it's not all that pretty!

Below is a recently released video of one of Britney's concerts where her voice or should I say singing talent isn't quite up to scratch.

While it may seem pretty obvious that she mimes her way through all of her she shows... well technically she doesn't. As you will see in the clip below she DOES sing, however the audience can't hear her as they listen to a backing track of her singing, BUT she does sing into the mic to fool us all that she singing and her actual singing is picked upped in the control room.

Hard to explain but after you watch this video everyone going to her upcoming Aussie shows will be glad she is miming... or is she?

New Michael Jackson Song released

Michael Jackson's brand spanking new never-before-heard track 'This is It' was released early overnight on YouTube. The song which would have been the anthem for his concert series is now the title track to his upcoming documentary movie of the same name. The song is rather slow and a fairly nice ballad, but it is hard to tell from just 43sec of audio. The full version should be released tomorrow. But it makes me wonder how people get a hold of these songs so early... I wish they could give The Extra Source an exclusive!

Hotshot of the Weekend 2 - Tickled PINK!

This is a great picture of superstar singer Pink just released to the world-wide media last week via Pinkbrazil.com specifically to show off her many sexy tattoos and of course that's why it's posted right here on the Extra Source as our second HOTSHOT of the weekend but to make the post a little more interesting I've also put together some 'Pink Facts' courtesy of Australian website TV.com
* During Pink's Show on May 1 during 'Glitter in the Air', she slipped while the ribbon was been lifted into the air. So instead of singing, "Have you ever felt this way?", she sang, "Have you ever felt... Scared sh*tless? .... If I had fell, would you have laughed?"
* Funhouse has been certified five times Platinum in Australia with 418, 826 albums been sold.
* In Australia, Pink's album I'm Not Dead has been certified 8x Platinum, and has sold 560,000+ copies.
* In Australia, Pink's I'm Not Dead tour sold about 307,000 tickets, breaking Kylie Minogue's previous record. Although only seven shows for the tour were announced for Australia, the demand was so high the the total amount of shows rose to thirty-seven. Majority of these shows were sold out.

The Xtra Source- Hey Hey Reunion 2 Review

08/10/09: Hey Hey it's Saturday Reunion Special #2 reviewed. Nathan Taylor & Peter Lang discuss the reunion show in detail including the controversial Red Faces segment which offended overseas crooner Harry Connick Jr.

Hey Hey it's over again...

Well unless Channel 9 give it the greenlight for a full season in 2010, and if ratings are any indication whether Hey Hey will return again... then it's a sure thing.
Hey Hey rated through the roof again last night achieving 2.3 million viewers around Australia and probably a few more thousand around the world watching LIVE online. This was an extra 100,000 viewers than last weeks first special.
However, the night has been over shadowed by the 'Jackson Jive' Red Faces act which American singer Harry Connick Jr was heavily offended.
In a recent 7 News poll 80% of people WEREN'T offended by the skit. I must agree I didn't think anything of it when I saw it and still don't. It's funny how Aussie's are so much different to our American friends.
In a Special Edition of The Extra Source Podcast which will be available from 8pm tonight we will weigh in on if we think Hey Hey should be back next year and also the debate of this OTT (Over The Top) reaction of the world's media to the 'black face' Red Faces skit.
Check out the act here:

Big thumbs UP!

by Nathan Taylor with special guest Cathy Damaschino

"Too cute" are the words our Extra Source Cathy Damaschino used to describe the latest Disney Pixar hit UP.

The movie which has recently opened up in Australia has made over $523 million world-wide and that figure is still growing.

UP centers around a grumpy old man named Carl Fredricksen and an overeager Wilderness Explorer named Russell who fly to South America in a floating house suspended from helium balloons.

"I fell in love with Russel, he is just gorgeous," she said. "And as old and grumpy Carl is, you cant help but love him too and empathise with him

Cathy said UP was the best animated movie she had ever seen.

She also said: "It was very original, probably the most unique Disney movie I've seen."

However as in all movies your not going to like everything. "The baddies were these dogs," she said. "I thought that was a little cheesy and didn't really do the film any justice."

Cathy thought UP was a really simple movie and it was not over done and they used music to reflect this.

But if your thinking UP is just all about fun and happiness, well not quite. Like in all Disney movies it does have a soft side and a special message. "UP was also really sad, which was nice, if that's possible," she said. "For example, the old couple couldn't have kids and the wife died, but it really sheds light on the realities of life and pushing through hard times."

And finally, our Extra Source would kill me if I don't include this quote from the movie... "It's a talking dog!" (apparently that line is infectious and you will be repeating it over and over when you leave)

UP is currently screening in cinemas everywhere in 3D and 2D. Check it out!

First pics - Jessica Biel in the new A Team movie

By Peter Lang

This is the first picture of Jessica Biel in the upcoming major motion picture remake of the 1980's TV classic The A Team.
Nobody knows why she is wearing a black trench coat and running up an escalator on a German airport set but it's the first glimpse the world has had of the new movie currently being shot in Vancouver, Canada.
Apart from the lovely Ms Biel as an army general, and ex-girlfriend of Faceman (played by Bradley Cooper). the A Team also stars Liam Neeson as John "Hannibal" Smith, Sharlto Copley is Capt. "Howling Mad" Murdock while Quinton "Rampage" Jackson plays Sgt. "B.A." Baracus (the role played by Mr T).
Patrick Wilson rounds out the cast as a CIA operative.
There's been no sign of any of the original television cast on set, including Mr T, despite rumours that some original cast members will appear in 'blink and you'll miss them' cameo roles.
Growing up I was a bit of a fan of the A Team and now that I know the sexy Jessica Biel will be in it, I'll definitely have to check it out when it hits cinemas worldwide June 2010.

First Look... Ghostbusters 3

by Nathan Taylor

'BUSTING MAKES ME FEEL GOOD'... And in 2012 fans of the Ghostbusters franchise will hear that lyric one more time with the confirmation Ghostbusters 3 will become a reality!

This film over the last two decades has had a rollercoaster life. In the 90's Dan Aykroyd's (Ghostbuster) concept for the third movie revolved around 'Ghostbusters in Hell', the idea being the characters could switch to a negative version of Manhattan called Manhellton.

Then in 2002 Aykroyd suggested the film be animated. Then in 2005 Harold Ramis (fellow Ghostbuster) said he wanted Ben Stiller to join the cast... Can you see how I feel like riding Space Mountain at Disneyland after that!

In September last year Columbia Pictures signed two writers from The US Office TV series to pen a script for the film. The story will feature old and new Ghostbusters.

Aykroyd said this to the LA Times in May this year: "I'd like it to be a passing-of-the-torch movie," he said. Let's revisit the old characters briefly and happily and have them there as family, but let's pass it on to a new generation."

Aykroyd went on to say all the original cast have signed on including Sigourney Weaver and the film could start shooting this winter in the US.

I happened to watch the 1984 original last weekend for the first time and I must say it was very clever and entertaining for its time. I mean the special effects were very budget and a few of the scenes could have been created on Windows Movie Maker, but I guess that's all they had at the time.

The good thing about Ghostbusters 3 is technically it will be amazing with all the special effects technology running through it... but will the cheesy storylines adapt to today's audiences?

Time will tell... three long years in fact!

Let's relive that classic Ghostbusters theme song from 1984 with the clip below... see if you can recognise the big Hollywood stars featured!

Mafia Wars - the movie....possibly!

by Peter Lang - So what is Mafia Wars? Well it’s a social networking game by Zynga which reportedly has over 10 million people as registered players, can you believe it? 10 million players and growing, that fact alone makes it a newsworthy story.
This game is an absolute phenomena and it’s taken the world by storm, so much so, that Hollywood is even talking about buying the rights and turning it into a major motion picture. Can you believe it?….I can.
Basically the games blurb says it all; “Start a Mafia family with your friends, run three kinds of crime businesses and via for respect. Then fight to be the ruling family in New York City."
It’s as simple as that.
It can be played on popular social networking site Facebook as well as MySpace, Yahoo and even on your Apple iphone.
It was even recently voted People’s Voice Winner at the 2009 Webby Awards.
There are hundreds of websites dedicated to it and even ones which show you how to get ahead by cheating! Youtube has literally dozens of ‘how to cheat videos and tutorials' on it.
I’m currently not a player but I soon will be…I just know it. I’m going to be sucked in sooner…rather than later.
Next week…Farmville!!!!

Black Eyed Peas FAIL to impress in Sydney

Last night The Black Eyed Peas kicked off their Australian tour last night from Sydney's Acer Arena and by all reports they were woeful!
The Extra Source had a source at the concert and in her words it was the "F***ing worst concert I have ever been to in my life."
She went onto say "They weren't good performers," she said. "They were out of tune, their mics were up way too loud and they were out of time."
This source even left early saying "It was a waste of a hundred bucks."
And I must agree! I attended the BEP Monkey Business Tour of 2005 and I was also very disappointed in the show they put on.
I will give them credit, all their albums and songs are brilliant, but performing LIVE, well... they are hopeless!
Here's some footage of the concert last night... judge for yourself:

The name is Bond...James Bond!

by Peter Lang
James Bond fans will be happy to hear that a 23rd movie installment is in pre-production and will be in theatres by mid 2011.
The film will once again star Daniel Craig (pictured left) as the famous 007 agent with a 'licence to kill' in a plot which is expected to take place partly in New York.
The as yet untitled Bond film will also see the return of Judi Dench and Jeffrey Wright as 'M' and Felix Leiter respectively.
There will also be a new sexy 'Bond girl' but producers are yet to decide whether they'll cast an unknown or well-known actress in this pivitol role.
Jennifer Aniston has been mentioned in dispatches but I can't really see her as a Bond girl, as much as I adore her and I do.
There's no doubt that Bond is back in a big way. The last two movies starring Craig (Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace) both grossed over $500 million dollars at the world-wide box office and I'm sure the new Bond movie, due out in just under two years, will make a similar amount.

Hey Hey kills Masterchef

by Nathan Taylor

It was the TV battle audiences had been waiting for and 38 years after it had its debut on air Hey Hey it's Saturday was back with Hey Hey the Reunion and it blew its competition Celebrity Masterchef out of the saucepan.

Hey Hey reached 2.16 million viewers nationwide and managed to keep viewers glued for nearly three hours, making it one of the highest rating shows of the year.

Channel Ten's offering of Celebrity Masterchef rated 1.3 million and in all reports was very dull and the "celebrity" talent on there last night would be somewhat questionable. I'd only heard of the guy from INXS on last night's show.

But Hey Hey proved itself in the modern day of television, by bringing back old gags and favourite segments. I must say John Blackman is a true genius and Daryl did a great job too.

And what's best is it will be back next week and hopefully the big wigs at NINE will resurrect it for a whole season in 2010.

Hey Hey ROVE it's time to pack your bags, your mediocre 600,000 viewers last Sunday night was childish. It's time to mix it with the big boys now!
