Will there be any stars in Pirates of the Caribbean 4??

by Nathan Taylor

Keira Knightly has said NO! Orlando Bloom has said NO! Geoffrey Rush hasn't put pen to paper yet and today there were whispers that Johnny Depp's role of Captain Jack Sparrow would be recast.

Fortunately, Disney have put those rumours to bed and Depp will be in the new film entitled Pirates of the Caribbean : On Stranger Tides.

The proposed storyline for the movie was for Sparrow (Depp) and Barbossa (Rush) to meet up in the newly founded New Orleans, before they sail to find the Fountain of Youth together.
Writers have begun writing the fourth installment under the guidance of Producer Jerry Bruckheimer so we'll have to see what actually transpires.

The film is set for release in May 2011.

There's no doubt this film will be a box office smash (the first three made $2.7 billion) but it may lack something with most of the big name cast not wanting to return.

It's all still hard to believe that Pirates' being amongst the biggest movie franchise's in history was based on a Disneyland ride.

Only weeks ago the announcement was made by Captain Jack himself at the Disney D23 Expo at Walt Disney Studios. View the footage below:

FRIENDS MOVIE - one step closer....maybe!

by Peter Lang - Hollywood is abuzz once again this week with word that a FRIENDS motion picture is one step closer to becoming a reality with one major report quoting everyone's favourite coffee shop waiter James Michael Tyler (Gunther) as the source behind the latest rumours.

Tyler told Britain's News of the World newspaper that a FRIENDS movie is definitely on its way.
"I still keep in touch with a lot of the cast and they say that they are really keen," he said.
"I am definitely on board to do the film. I am looking forward to meeting up with the old gang again," Tyler said.
"I just hope we can do justice to the show in a film."

I have to say at this point, I wouldn't be holding my breath until a more senior cast member, aka, one of the 'big six' actually signs up for the picture.

Of course 'Gunther' would want to be in the movie and see it happen, that's a no-brainer.

Being a huge FRIENDS fan nobody wants to see the movie more than me but with Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry both enjoying recent big screen success and the other four major cast members all involved in other long term projects, I think a movie may be some way off.

They wouldn't want to wait too long however with all cast members in their early to mid 40s if too many more years pass by the movie will take place in a retirement village!

For the record this is how old the 'big six'currently are.

Jennifer Aniston, 40, Courteney Cox, 45, Lisa Kudrow, 46, Matt LeBlanc, 42, Matthew Perry, 40, and David Schwimmer, 42

Sabrina attacks Idol experience

by Nathan Taylor

Today on The Daily Telegraph blog I had the opportunity to ask Sabrina Batshon who was eliminated last night from Australian Idol what she thought of the standard of this year's series?

Also with Australian Idol being in a ratings slump this year, I asked her if she thought it was because of the low standard of contestants or that woeful new judge Jay Dee.

You'll be surprised on what she opened up about... here's what she said:

(sic) Thank you for the support but I dont wish to make the same mistake viewers did in judging people. The Idols are my best friends and I don’t have any ill feeling towars them. They are all extremely talented and I think Idol has created a bad name for itself. It’s the people that vote and the way the cookie crumbles. I think they need new judges. People are getting really bored and the judges are under alot of pressure to give a good show and when you are just saying things to entertain people, people get bored. Dicko’s gotten away with murder, and Marcia’s very kind. JDee needs alot of time to warm up. But with JDee you need 2 stronger judges, and Marcia and Dicko are not as strong. I think Dicko has said a lot of things, he makes derogatory comments and i don’t know if the fans agree with that, his jokes are not funny. We;ve watched that year after year and it gets boring. I didnt watch Idol beforehand, and I joined as I had no expectation. Kyle is fascinating to watch, he is funny and real and witty and not there to play games and they need that, its crucial for the show, and in my opinion i dont know if theyll bother airing it next year. Right now, they are just drowning. Im glad it did it though.
**The comments Sabrina made to me have been picked up as stories by The Daily Telegraph and TV Tonight. I wish they credited me for asking the question!**

Australian Idol rigged by SCHOOLGIRLS!

by Nathan Taylor

Okay, I'll make it short and not so sweet. I'm annoyed, I'm angry and I can't believe the best contestant of this year's woeful Australian Idol series was voted out.

Sabrina Batshon, 24, was eliminated tonight leaving a bunch of nobodies. Surprisingly all the girls this year are great and the guys are terrible.

Which leads me to think, that little school girls from probably primary to grade 10 are texting their little hearts out to keep all the boys in the contest... and I'll repeat again the boys who are TERRIBLE!

Do they think if they text their favourite male idol's name to 19 10 10 they may have a chance of meeting them... may have a chance of dating them... may have a chance of marrying them. GET REAL!

As you can see I'm mad as hell and I think I should join the rest of the country and switch this crap off!

Whoa that felt good!

Aniston's box office comeback!

By Peter Lang

This story is more than just an excuse to show this sexy picture of one of my long time favourite actresses Jennifer Aniston.
It's a photo which was taken earlier this year to celebrate Aniston's 40th birthday.
I had a crush on her when she first hit our screens in the TV Show Friends in 1994 and I have a crush on her now. I think I always will!
Ok, focus....the other reason behind featuring this wonderful photo is that the impossible in Hollywood has happened and the film career of Ms J Aniston is finally taking off.
After a string of memorable flops during the 90s, like Along Came Polly and Picture Perfect, Aniston is now enjoying a string of popular hits which includes $100 million dollar plus earners like The Break Up and Marley & Me.
Now she's on course in the US for her third hit in a row with the recent release of Love Happens co-starring the popular Aaron Eckhart.
Eckhart plays Dr. Burke Ryan, a successful self-help author about to land a major multimedia deal. As a therapist, he encourages his patients to openly confront their pain. However he is unable to do the same himself while mourning the death of his own wife.
Eckhart meets Aniston, who plays Eloise Chandler, a florist who has decided after a string of disappointments, never to date again but as the movie tag line goes: "Sometimes when you least expect it, love happens."
The film grossed over $10 million in its first week in the US and many are predicting it has the 'legs' to become the sleeper hit of the season. However even if it doesn't reach the dizzy heights of her previous two efforts, there's no doubting that Aniston is back at the box office in a big way.
The film opens in Australia in November. Click below to view the official trailer of Love Happens.

XSource Xclusive: Mike Goldman tells how he dealt with Big Brother fame

In PART 2 of this Xtra Source Xclusive interview, former Big Brother host Mike Goldman discusses with Nathan Taylor how he dealt with the fame during his eight seasons on the hit Australian reality show and his future television plans.

Before the hit Channel Ten reality show Big Brother burst into Australian households in 2001, the name Mike Goldman wouldn't have registered in anyone's minds. No one really knew what he looked like or what colour his hair was but as the narrator of Big Brother we did get to know his voice every single night for three months a year.

Then in 2003, Mike Goldman fronted Big Brother's live UpLate show for two hours a night where in most episodes we would watch the housemates either asleep or spooning their fellow 'bed partner'. Goldman would entertain audiences by giving away cash prizes in 'brain teaser' segments and would also make viewers laugh at him adlibbing his way through the show.

However being in front of a camera every night came at a cost for Goldman when more and more people started to recognise him, some nice and some not so nice experiences followed.

"Being on TV everyday, you go out in public and get strange looks from people everywhere," Goldman said. "It doesn’t happen so much anymore but it used to be pretty full on."

Most of the time Goldman could see the positive side to fame.
"You have to see it as something you appreciate," he said. "The fact that people recognise you and they are obviously watching your show and it’s popular."

Then there were times when Goldman became paranoid about what people thought of him, as he would get constant stares from people everywhere he went.
"There were times when I thought why are these people staring at me? It’s really pissing me off'," he said. "You’d have to bite your tongue because people are going to do that because it’s the career you’ve chosen.
"After all it’s your job and you should like the fact that people are recognising you."

Goldman said he knows why a lot of television stars fall into depression due to their fame.
"You get a bit paranoid and I can see how a lot people who work in TV fall into depression," he said. "You start thinking 'what are they saying? Do they hate me? Do they love me? Or are they going to come over and swear at me or are they going to come over and ask for an autograph'."

Just before Goldman and I did this interview he recalled a run in with a child fan.
"I was at this shop in Bondi and this little Spanish girl came over and said 'Can I have an autograph?', he said. "I thought 'someone has put her up to this, she doesn’t want my autograph' .
"I asked her 'Do you know my name?' and she goes 'Yes it’s Mike' and I thought that’s a bit rude of me, sorry."

Goldman said when doing comedy or fun TV shows you've got to psyche yourself up before you go on air and have a good time.
"Never take yourself too seriously, enjoy it and have fun," he said. "If you're going to brush off fans and not speak to people and be rude to them, then don't do it (TV)."

Mike Goldman is currently appearing in Channel Ten's 'The Spearman Experiment' and next year will be doing voice-over work on the new season of 'So You Think You Can Dance Australia'.

She's one Bella of a girl!

by Peter Lang

What lengths people will go to for love is but one of the story elements explored in the upcoming popular Vampire flick 'New Moon' the sequel to last year's teen romance-horror blockbuster Twilight.
When Bella Swan (played by Kristen Stewart) finds herself broken hearted following the departure of her vampire true love Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) she can think of only one thing.
To find a way to be with him forever!
She attempts suicide in an effort to move from the real world into the world of the living dead in the hope of becoming a vampire herself and joining her lost love.
A friendship with a family friend Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) however seems to awaken her out of her depression but then pulls her unexpectedly into the supernatural world of werewolves.
It all turns into a complicated love story of sorts but the emotional drain of playing a woman with a broken heart was not lost on the 19 year-old actress who told MTV in an interview recently that the emotional pain her character was in was ; "Like, she literally is going to die, she's going to stop eating and be done....Just like everything in our movie, it's such a heightened version of reality.
"It's like, people don't just break up - they break up and it literally kills you," Stewart explained.
Stewart, who rose to prominence as a teenager in the Jodie Foster hit movie Panic Room in 2002, admitted playing a heart-broken Bella Swan was the toughest thing she's ever had to do, acting wise, in her 10 years on the big screen.
Insiders who have seen rushes of the movie say the performance could even earn her an Academy Award nomination.
Hey, it's Hollywood...anything is possible and it's just another reason why fans can't wait until the movie opens on November 20.
View this exclusive E-NEWS interview with Kristen Stewart about her role in New Moon below.

XSource Xclusive: Mike Goldman- "I'm a pioneer, I'm the Captain Cook of Digital Radio."

In PART 1 of this Xtra Source Xclusive interview, Mike Goldman of Big Brother fame discusses with Nathan Taylor the ups and downs of his new career as the breakfast host on new digital radio station Gorilla Radio.

Mike Goldman started his radio career at 16 as the office boy at Sydney radio station 2SM. Goldman would work for free both day and night and his day-to-day jobs weren't just filing away CD's.
"I had to work with a blind announcer who did the midnight to dawn shift," said Goldman. "I had to help him braille every CD in the music library and get him anything he wanted."

Even with his dad Grant Goldman being a big media personality, Goldman said it was still hard for him just like anyone else to get into the business.
"You have to increase your hit ratio,"said Goldman. "Do as many demos as you can and call as many people as you can and when starting out you’ve got to work for free and get better at it."

His dad who still hosts a morning breakfast show on 2SM really inspired Goldman to get into radio.
"I saw how much fun he was having and what a great fun job it was," said Goldman. "He bought me my first disco gear set-up and taught me how to DJ and I did mobile disco and then got into radio."

Now many years later Mike Goldman is proud to be the host of his own breakfast show on dance music digital radio station Gorilla Radio.

"I'm a pioneer, I'm the Captain Cook of digital radio," he said. "Because we are the only live digital breakfast show in Australia and we are exclusively digital."

Goldman said his show is rather unique compared to other breakfast shows competing with him. "What's different is I do whatever I want, it's my show," he said. "It's not like the Kyle & Jackie O Show, it's me with different guests everyday and we play top 40 dance hits.

"I'm aiming for a Chris Lilly style radio show rather than a TV show, with lots of characters who are actually yours truly."

With digital radio being only a few months old in Australia, Goldman admitted he probably doesn't have that many listeners.
"I must admit the first week I started was a little disheartening saying call up and I wouldn't get one call," said Goldman. "I'm writing all this comedy and doing all these skits and getting in these great guests from all over the world and I'm thinking 'Oh God is anyone listening?'."

Goldman however is confident that things are looking up in the digital radio world, with current sales figures of digital radios at over 50,000 units sold.
"I think in the next two-three years it's going to build," he said. "More people will be listening and I'd like to see it in the next three-five years on an even playing field with all the other stations."

Mike Goldman's breakfast radio show can be heard each weekday morning from 6-9am on digital radio station Gorilla Radio and can be listened to online at www.gorillasuperdigi.com.au or with your digital radio.

Please visit back this Thursday for Part 2 of the XSource Xclusive with Mike Goldman where he chats about his eight years on Big Brother and how his life changed after being on television.

First Look : Harry Potter 7 Poster

by Peter Lang

Pictured on the left is an early poster being used to promote the latest Harry Potter movie, due for release in November 2010 called Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part I.
Yes, so big and long is the final novel that it's being split into two movies. Part I will be launched into theatres next year with Part II coming out nine months later in July 2011.
It's a good idea because not only will it rain money for author J K Rowling and film studio Warner Bros for an extended period but it will keep the magic that is Harry Potter in the forefront of children and adults minds for a little while longer - and that's not a bad thing as it's hard enough to get children to read books in the first place.
As is evident from the poster, the final Harry Potter installment is probably the darkest film of them all and that is being reflected with the early marketing of the movie.
As Harry has grown into an adult over the last nine years, so have the movies.
If you're a devoted Potter fan than I don't have to tell you that the entire original cast is back along with Director David Yates.
If you're not a fan, then I've told you so now you know.

The FIVE WORST Superhero movies ever made....

by Peter Lang - In my opinion, the following are the five worst super hero movies I've ever seen.

5 - Hulk (2003) - Director Ang Lee made the most cumbersome, the most visually boring movie of his illustrious career when he made this stinker. All that split screen stuff made me want to vomit while the storyline was just a mess from start to finish . The CGI Hulk looked fake and the best thing about the movie was when Eric Bana (who played Bruce Banner) said..."When I get angry...and lose control...(pause)...I like it!" Too bad I didn't like the movie, in fact I dead set fell asleep in the cinema watching it...during an action scene!!!

4 - Superman IV (1987) - Apart from Christopher Reeve's performance this movie was so bad that I saw it twice, hoping it would improve the second time around....it didn't. Badly edited, with large sections of the story just cut out with no explanation, Cannon Films really bombed with this one. When they cut the special effects budget, they also cut out the movie's soul. Christopher Reeve deserved better than this in his last outing as Superman.

3 - Batman Returns (1992) - What a dreadful sequel this was. Director Tim Burton got confused and thought he was making Edward Scissorhands 2. Slow plot, boring as bats**t, Batman Returns was noteworthy only because Michelle Pfeiffer wore a tight black spandex costume as Catwoman. Meanwhile Danny DeVito over-acted as the evil, manical Penguin. Blahhh....

2 - Catwoman (2004) - Where do I start, no decent action scenes, silly characters, bad acting, stupid premise and at the risk of repeating myself, the only good thing about the movie, this time, was seeing the gorgeous Halle Berry wearing a tight black spandex costume!!! Ole'!!

1 - Batman & Robin (1997) - See the costumes above for one of the reasons why this movie was an absolute stinker. I mean how stupid do they look? Arnold Schwarzenegger had presence as Mr Freeze but his acting left me cold while George Clooney made a good Bruce Wayne but he had no presence as Batman. Alicia Silverstone (Batgirl) and Chris O'Donnell (Robin) were both comical in their performances....without meaning to be. Dumb, Dumb and Dumber....it reminded me of the old 1960s TV Series....If I had some 'shark repellent' close by I think I would have sprayed myself in the eyes just to stop myself from watching it to the end.

Kyle SAFE... but radio duo AXED!

Good news came through today with Kyle Sandilands dodging a bullet and keeping his radio job on 2Day FM.

While I must admit more people wanted him gone rather than stay on air, his true fans (which I am one of them) will be very happy.

I believe his job was never in doubt despite when The Daily Telegraph and TV news stations claimed through un-named sources that he was skating on thin ice.

It's been confirmed Kyle wont return on air until October 7th and wont be paid during this time, reportedly losing up to $150,000 in pay which will be given to charity says 2Day FM.

It's rumoured Kyle's good friend and singer Brian McFadden will join Jackie O until Kyle returns.

In other news, MIX 106.5 FM stars Sonia Kruger and Todd McKenny have been axed from their breakfast radio job after another big ratings loss on Tuesday.

While this pair may get along really well on Dancing With The Stars, their chemistry didn't really translate on air and the show never really took off.
I'm sure no one will care too much about this one!

New Moon rising in the Twilight

The most eagerly anticipated movie of the year - New Moon - the sequel to last year's world-wide box office hit Twilight, released its official trailer just two days ago and it set millions of pre-pubescent and some, not so, pubescent hearts into a major cardiac flutter.
Of course the film is based on the popular novel of the same name by Stephenie Meyer and Summit Entertainment is banking on it being an even bigger hit than the original which had a world-wide gross of $383 million dollars.
All the original cast is back including teen heart throbs
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the lead roles of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen.
The movie is well into post production at the moment and is due for release in the US on November 20, 2009 expanding world wide shortly after.
New Moon will show in Australian cinemas even before the US release with midnight screenings for sale now.
Now you don't have to go scrolling through the internet to find a copy of the New Moon trailer, the Xtra Source is going to spoon feed it to you below. Just click and as we always say, Enjoy!

Michael Jackson: This is it! Trailer

Last night at the MTV VMAS in New York the highly anticipated trailer for the Michael Jackson documentary This Is It! premiered to the world.
The movie which is to be released for two weeks only world-wide on October 28th and will set the box office alight.
The movie-documentary presents Jackson's concert rehearsal footage and other behind the scenes moments of his planned tour in London.
In my opinion the trailer is brilliant and I can't wait to see the entire thing on the big screen. It will be a great tribute but sad at the same time as we see what could have been.
Above is the movie poster for the This Is It! and below the brand new trailer only just released.
ENJOY!

Flashforward on 7

The pics available to promote this series are boring (see cast photo on the left) but the series has everyone talking in the US.
It's called FLASHFORWARD and it begins on Channel 7 at the end of September on a day and time slot still to be decided.
Are you kidding me?
If Channel 7 aren't careful they're going to miss all the hype and buzz which surrounds this show at the moment and end up with a ratings bomb instead of a ratings hit.
Briefly, the plot revolves around a mysterious global event which causes everyone to black out simultaneously for two minutes and 17 seconds. During the blackout each person sees a glimpse of their lives six months from now.
When they wake up, everyone is left wondering if what they saw will actually happen.
It's an interesting premise, albeit a confusing one. I just hope that it doesn't start big like LOST and then die in the 'backside' like that series did due to continually convoluted plots which had no logical outcomes.
This series centres around Los Angeles FBI Agent Mark Benford (Joseph Fiennes) who is desperate to uncover why everyone blacked out for this exact amount of time and who or what is behind it?
One of the many promo I read, says it all, so I'll just cut and paste it here for you:-
Some will fear what's coming, others excited; but not a single person will be unaffected.
Adapting award-winning author Robert J. Sawyer's revolutionary novel, executive producers David S. Goyer ("The Dark Knight") and Brannon Braga (24, Star Trek: Enterprise) invite you to embark on a journey to answer the question, "if you knew what your future held, what would you do?"

Halloween 2 : The Terror is Back!

This is not a movie that everyone is going to like but if you're a horror fan, like me, then I'm sure you're looking forward to the Australian release of Director Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 remake or should I say, re-telling of the 1980s movie classic.
Zombie did a great job two years ago when he remade the original Halloween movie and judging by the feedback of horror enthusiasts in the US since its release a few weeks ago, the sequel is even better.
Although the critics hate it which probably means it's a good movie.
This time we get to go deep into the dark recess of killer Michael Myers mind, a place so menacing and tormented that it will make your skin crawl and your hands tremble in fear at what you'll find.
As with the original, Zombie not only directs the movie but writes and produces it as well ensuring that his vision is carried out without being diluted in any way.
I personally can't wait to see the sequel but I might have to wait until it's released on DVD in a few months time as no Australian theatrical release date is forthcoming at this stage.
If you're a horror buff however and wish to see the preview. Simply click below and enjoy!

The New American Idol Judge is... ELLEN!

I must say I'm speechless beyond belief. American Idol has a brand new judge to replace Paula Abdul and it's none other than popular talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres.

It's a very interesting choice and I'm sure it's surprising the world over. Ellen made the announcement only hours ago in a taping of her show.

2012 - Where will you be when the world ends?

The buzz and hype about this movie just keeps growing day-by-day.
2012 is the new movie by Director Roland Emmerich who has already given us such classics as Independence Day (1996) and The Day After Tomorrow (2004).
This one is said to be even bigger and more special effects driven than any of his previous blockbusters.
The basic plot centres around the end of the world and how humans pull together to try and find a way to survive a total global cataclysm.
As with all of his past films, Emmerich has put together an ensemble cast with names big enough to hold our interest (John Cusack, Amanda Peet) but not too big as to distract us from the visual effects feast on the screen.
For after all, the special effects are the star of every Emmerich movie.
The poster to your left is just one of many eye-catching creations which show one of the spectacular scenes included in the film.
It opens November 12 in the US and is expected to open just after Christmas in Australia.
Personally, I can't wait for this one to come out.
It should be an absolute beauty! Check out the preview below.

Missing Poster - Wolverine

You often wonder what it is about a movie poster that makes it great.
You wonder why one image was ultimately chosen over the other when studio executives sit down and decide what movie poster will be used to sell and market a movie.
What often happens is that more than one movie poster is used because the images and creative are just so damn good that they can't narrow it down to just one.
This is one of those times.
Although the poster on the left promoting Hugh Jackman in X-Men Origins: Wolverine was used in the lead up to the film being released in May this year, it wasn't used enough in my opinion.
You could say, it went 'missing' - so to speak in preference to another, in my opinion, less effective poster eventually used to promote this world wide blockbuster.
So that's why this incredibly eye-catching and powerful image of Wolverine looking through his claws this week makes the Missing Poster of the Week.
Apparently Wolverine 2 has just been given the green light in Hollywood. Hugh Jackman signed a three picture deal before the original was made so we know there's going to be a trilogy made.
Part 2 is set to be filmed partially in Japan with an array of interesting comic book supervillians expected to play their part in the sequel.
Of course, you'll read all the latest news and see the images first, right here, on The Xtra Source.
Until then, enjoy this great pic!

Robbie Williams is BACK!

Yes ladies and some guys, Robbie Williams is heading to our shores this November to perform at the new-look 2009 ARIA Awards from Acer Arena.
Robbie hasn't been in Australia since his last concert series of 2006 (in which I attended) and has been out of the spotlight working on a brand new album which will be released very soon.
His last album Rudebox bombed, so everyone is anticipating his latest offering will see the Rock DJ at his best!
The Xtra Source will be LIVE this year from the ARIA Awards, so expect in the next couple of months all the run-down for the big event!
I've included a short 30-sec clip of Robbie's new song Bodies:

Sex and the City II - coming May 2010

Yep, I'm a guy who likes Sex and the City. My wife forced me to watch all six seasons of the TV series and the movie last year and I fell in love with the series, the characters and the clever, witty storylines which don't exclude the male perspective as much as I thought they would.
So naturally I was pleased to hear that filming for Sex and the City II had begun in New York City and that that the sequel would hit our screens next May.
Of course all the girls are back reprising the roles that have made them such household names around the world including Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw), Kim Cattrall (Samantha), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte).
Also seen on the streets of the 'Big Apple' during filming last week is Carrie's on-screen husband and regular Mr Big (Chris Noth).
Reports say the character of Mr Big was not wearing his wedding ring in one scene leading to speculation that the pair may break up again during the movie's storyline.
Writer-director-producer Michael Patrick King is also back at the helm to oversee proceedings. After the original movie last year grossed over $400 million dollars at the world-wide box office, a sequel was always going to happen.
My wife is not the only one looking forward to this one.

Fans call for Aus Idol to be AXED!

Former fans of Australian Idol have bombarded websites and forums expressing their disappointment in this year's contestants and want the long running Channel 10 series chopped!

Ratings for the seventh series of Idol have been way down on previous years. Last Sunday night's Wildcard episode couldn't even crack the 1 million mark only managing 992,000 nation-wide and was the lowest rated episode so far this season.

Fans have had their say on this year's series in big numbers on television blogs like TV Tonight.

One former fan known as Trev said: "Idol is an amateur show. Some acts are good, some not so and some atrocious. As I have mentioned several times earlier, I have not even bothered to watch it at all this season."

Another said: " I love Idol. I however have been disappointed by this season; the 6:30 start, crap judging, promoting the ‘tradie’ (pictured above) etc."

However, Idol still has many fans out there that will defend the show to the death. Blogger Ravi posted this in defence: "All those with Idol problems you need to go to axe swingers anonymous. It’s better to have a competition where the unexpected occurs rather than one where you know the winner from the start. It will get better and the fact there is no stand out may work to the shows advantage. Wild card night is for the best of the rest so it is no wonder it rated lower."

Personally, I have been a big fan of the series since day dot and haven't missed an episode yet this season, but I was really disappointed when producers axed Kyle and got Sony employee Jay Dee to replace him. I thought this was a bad move in my eyes as Kyle gave the show some bite and it was fun to watch him tell it like it is and so far Jay Dee has failed to impress me.

I also think the 6:30pm family friendly time-slot is hurting ratings figures as well and I just think after 7 seasons people are losing interest. It happened to Big Brother last year and unfortunately I think Idol may learn the same fate.

Are we ever going to see Tomb Raider 3?

This fantastic photo to your left is of the wonderfully sexy and talented Angelina Jolie posing as Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider movies.
The first two films were highly successful at the box office even though they were critically panned.
It's been six years since the second installment of the franchise was released and nearly every year since, speculation has been rife as to when a third movie would be made.
'Angelic' Jolie has an option in her contract for a third incarnation but sources out of Hollywood say she's in no hurry to take it up.
Paramount Pictures seem to be holding out for Jolie and while re-casting the character of Lara Croft has been suggested, no one associated with the possible film really want to go with anyone else in the title role, such is Jolie's incredible world wide popularity and association with the character.
An animated version of the movie has also been mentioned, in keeping with the highly successful computer game but so far nothing has come of that idea either.
It looks like, for the time being anyway, Lara Croft remains in movie land limbo.
Hopefully, not for too much longer.
