Hulk Hogan to take on WWE

by Peter Lang

He may be 56 years-old and past his true prime but my favourite all time wrestler and legendary Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan is about to stir things up big time at TNA Wrestling when he takes the helm as the company’s General Manager on January 1st.
This story is compiled from many sources including wrestlingrevealed.com and numerous wrestling podcasts I’ve heard talk about the subject since Hogan signed for TNA in late October but the key things to come out of Hogan’s interviews are;
1) He intends to try and sign free agent Rob Van Dam who now says he is open to offers from both WWE and TNA. He also plans to sign other former WWE stars like Mr Kennedy and possibly even Umaga.
2) His plan is to let the wrestlers take more charge of their matches and not have writers script the whole thing. Where this leaves head TNA writer Vince Russo is anyone’s guess. The two don’t get along and it appears as if Russo’s days with the company are numbered.
3) Hogan also intends to launch a Monday night TNA show directly against WWE’s Raw program. Whether this will be moving the current TNA Impact show or creating a totally new one is anyone’s guess.
As in the mid to late 90s when Hogan moved to WCW and turned the wrestling world on its head by beating WWE for several years in the ratings, Hogan is promising more of the same with TNA.
At the moment, WWE is way ahead of TNA in ratings but if Hogan has his way, which I believe he will, that gap may close sooner rather than later.
Get ready folks, after several years in the doldrums, the wrestling world is about to get a whole lot more interesting.
